If I'm local, can I stop by?

We do operate by appointment only. To avoid any confusion we ask that our local customers complete their order online and then contact us for an appointment to drop off the order. We will let you know when your order is complete and also set up an appointment for you to pick up your order. No shipping is charged for local customers.

Military & Law Enforcement Discounts on Cerakote

Here at AV8 we recognize how important our military and law enforcement folks are. We give thanks by offering discounts on our services for all members of the active or retired military, law enforcement, and first responders. If you fall into one of those groups, please make sure to tell us when initially starting your project so that we can make sure we give you the discount you deserve.

* Credentials will be required upon starting the project to receive the discount

Understanding Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs)

There are nine distinct types of Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs) available for handling firearms. Among them are Dealer/Gunsmith (FFL Type 1) and Importer/Dealer of Firearms (FFL Type 8). These licenses ensure that businesses working on serialized firearm components have the proper credentials. As a certified Cerakote applicator, AV8 Precision Coatings holds a Type 7 FFL, which allows us to buy, sell, repair, assemble, and handle firearms legally. Our license also permits customers to ship firearms directly to our facility. Please review the shipping notes below when sending us your firearm project.

SHIPPING NOTES *IMPORTANT*

SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED IN PRICES. ALL FIREARM RELATED ITEMS ARE SHIPPED SIGNATURE REQUIRED.

Shipping Guidelines for Rifles and Shotguns

Unloaded rifles and shotguns can be shipped as long as they comply with 27 CFR, Part 478 and your state and local laws. Long guns can be mailed via USPS, UPS, or FedEx under the following conditions:

  • Make sure your rifle or shotgun is FULLY unloaded and contains no ammunition.
  • The package must have a "Return Service Requested" endorsement for USPS.
  • Use Priority Mail with a signature required upon delivery if using USPS.
  • Insure the package for the value of the item(s) being sent and include tracking (all carriers).
  • Short-barreled rifles or shotguns that are concealable cannot be mailed through USPS. Contact us BEFORE sending any short barreled items.
  •  Avoid putting anything on the box that can identify its contents as it may make it a target for theft
  • Do NOT send any ammunition
  • Package up your project(s) preferably in their original cases or boxes if possible. If not, package them as securely as possible to avoid damage or barrels from sticking out when delivered. We are not responsible for items broken or lost during transit.

Shipping Guidelines for Handguns

Handguns and their parts are subject to stricter regulations. Frames, receivers, and regulated components cannot be mailed via USPS unless sent to a shop by an FFL. For private individuals, UPS and FedEx offer the most reliable options, requiring next-day or second-day air service. Key points to remember:

  • Make sure handgun is unloaded and contains no ammunition.
  • Insure your package for the replacement value.
  • Do not attempt to ship a (handgun) via US Postal Service; only federally licensed dealers may ship a handgun by US Postal Service.
  • Do NOT send any ammunition
  • Avoid putting anything on the box that can identify its contents as it may make it a target for theft.
  • Package up your project(s) preferably in their original cases or boxes if possible. If not, package them as securely as possible to avoid damage or barrels from sticking out when delivered. We are not responsible for items broken or lost during transit.

Note: We do NOT recommend sending anything via FedEx as they have a very poor reputation in our area. If you send anything to us through FedEx it is your responsibility to track the item(s) until we acknowledge receipt of your items. They have been known to claim they've attempted deliveries to us when the driver didn't show up that day. In short, we highly discourage the use of FedEx. USPS is also very slow in the Atlanta area. We would prefer you use UPS. Just some friendly advice.

Firearm Sales

AV8 will not accept any firearms for returns or replacements. Once a firearm is transferred to your FFL dealer, it cannot be returned to AV8 for any reason. All warranty isses with the firearm will require you to contact the manufacturer and work with them to correct the issue.

FFL'S & Transfers

AV8 will ONLY transfer ownership of a firearm to individuals or agencies in possession of a valid Federal Firearms License (FFL). This means we cannot ship directly to you unless you are an FFL holder.

If you do not hold a valid FFL, AV8 will transfer your purchased firearm to your choice of a licensed gun dealer in your state.

It is your responsibility:

  • to ensure that a firearm is legal to own in your state.
  • to contact the FFL and notify them of the pending transfer.
  • to complete all required paperwork when you pick up your purchase from your local dealer

Be aware that it is customary for your local dealer to charge a transfer fee at the time you pick up your purchase. This transfer fee is strictly between you and your local dealer. Please check with your local dealer concerning their policies.

The buyer is responsible for contacting their transferring FFL to request they send a copy of their FFL to us.
